Thee present study demonstrates that the ornamentation of the yoke and wagon fittings from the Waldalgesheim Early La Tène princely burial incorporates concealed figurative representations which are based on the iconography of Greco-Etruscan Gorgon depictions. When considering the nature of the objects bearing these designs – i.e. the wooden yoke and wagon – a comprehensive iconographic concept manifests itself, which revolves around the idea of a female nature and fertility deity, probably represented by the woman laid to rest in this grave.
